Introducing GICD

Dear Colleague:
In recent years there has been a rapid increase in both the number and complexity of spine procedures performed. In addition, there has been a proliferation of new surgical implants and instruments to assist spine surgeons. These developments have resulted in an increasing need worldwide for educational activities that can help spine surgeons keep up-to-date.

Accordingly, I am pleased to take this opportunity to introduce GICD, an independent non-profit organization committed to providing worldwide educational services that advance expertise in spine surgery.

Orthopaedic and neurological surgeons with a special interest in spinal disorders develop and direct GICD's activities, which include meetings and publications. GICD's activities all reflect the GICD spirit - an energetic pursuit of knowledge regarding the treatment of spinal disorders, in an environment which encourages discussion and is free from commercial bias.

Ultimately the real beneficiaries of GICD's work are our spine patients. For as we meet together around the world to exchange insights, present research, and sharpen our skills, we return to our practices better equipped to treat our patients. It is for this reason that I hope you will join in GICD's activities.

Sincerely,
Signature GIF
