As the air turns crisp and everyone migrates back inside to stay warm, so do the germs. Every year, within the first week of school, all the way through college I can remember coming down with a cold. There are several reasons for this. One, the more people in one space the more likely you are to catch something. Two, germs are everywhere. So here are ways to avoid getting sick:
Wash you hands, wash your hands, and then wash them again. Washing your hands is one of the best ways to ensure that you will not come down with something. Think of all the disgusting things that you touch during the day: the cart at the supermarket, the desktop at the bank, the money from the teller. All of those examples have an unimaginable amount of germs. Then think about what you touched after you touched all those things. Would you eat a sandwich out of the front of a supermarket cart? No? Then why not wash your hands? The ways that germs get into our body are through our nose, eyes, and skin. So wash you hands before you touch your eyes, nose, mouth, and food.
Even though the last place you want to be is outside in the cold, studies show that the best thing for you to do is to get out of the house and walk around outside. The air might be cold but it is a lot cleaner than the air inside your office. The reason so many people get sick in the winter really has nothing to do with the cold winter itself but rather all the people huddling inside rather than opening windows. So even if you do not want to, head outside and get some fresh air.
Avoid getting ill by making sure that you get lots of nutrients. Drink orange juice, eat fruits and vegetables. Making sure that your body has the proper nutrients to fight against any bacteria that enters your system is a great way to make sure that you wont get sick.
